Bjørn Kjos inspires and entertains CNBA members

Bjørn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian Air Shuttle, was the guest speaker at the CNBA's first evening meeting for the fall season. This was one of the CNBA's most well-attended meetings. Mr. Kjos gave an entertaining account of Norwegian Air Shuttle's history, the challenges faced when starting the airline, and his own role in building up the company.

Trigcom and RIM launch Blackberry in Norway

Norwegian communications provider Trigcom and global Canadian-based wireless innovator Research In Motion (RIM) announced this week the launch of BlackBerry® to customers in Norway. Trigcom is the first carrier to introduce the BlackBerry wireless platform in Norway.

Norway hosts international conference on fighting petroleum- and mining-related corruption

About 500 government, business and civic representatives participated in the third Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, or EITI, conference. The group hopes to get oil, gas and mining companies and governments to disclose transactions in poor countries as a way of curbing corruption.

Government of Canada announces $4.8 million in funding to support 138 Canadian communities in efforts to attract foreign investment

One of the world's top nanotechnology institutes opens in Edmonton

Hundreds of Canada's leading scientists and engineers gathered in Edmonton on June 22 to celebrate the opening of one of the world's most technologically advanced research facilities – the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT). The CAD$52.2 million facility is designed to provide the optimal conditions for nano-scale research and to foster collaboration between researchers. It includes a suite of characterization labs that are located in 'Canada's quietest space', which for scientists means a place with ultra-low vibration and minimal acoustical noise or electro-magnetic interference – an environment which is essential for research at the nano scale.
