IDEX enters into agreement with S.I.C. Biometrics
IDEX today (14 Nov 2011) announced that it has entered into a cooperation agreement with S.I.C. Biometrics Inc., based in Montreal, Canada.
S.I.C. designs, manufactures and internationally commercialises biometrics security products and solutions that are used to protect people, institutions, enterprises and buildings against theft, fraud and terrorism.
“IDEX is delighted to be working with S.I.C. who in addition to a long history of biometric technology expertise, also offers biometric security products for Apple™, BlackBerry™ and Android™ mobile platforms. We view this agreement asan important step forward, as we expand the market adoption of IDEX’ on-device fingerprint system products also into the mobile applications,”says Ralph W. Bernstein, chief executive officer of IDEX.

The agreement defines specific cooperation milestones for development, test and verification. Final qualification of S.I.C.’s biometric device incorporating the IDEX SmartFinger Film sensor is expected in the fourth quarter of 2011. Based on successful qualification, it is the intent for the two companies to enter into a commercial agreement, under which IDEX will supply SmartFinger Film sensor products to S.I.C.
